Advances in BioScience (ISSN 2583-0058) is committed to publishing high-quality, peer-reviewed research in all areas of the biological sciences. As an Open Access journal, we make all published articles freely available to readers worldwide without any financial barriers. To cover the costs associated with this model, we levy Article Processing Charges (APCs) on accepted manuscripts. Article Processing Charges (APCs) are fees charged to authors to cover the costs associated with the publication of their articles. These charges cover various aspects of the publication workflow and contribute to the quality and accessibility of published content.

APC Fee Structure

The APC for Advances in Bioscience is USD $100. This fee applies to all articles accepted for publication, regardless of length or complexity.

Article Processing Charge covers 

  • Editorial Services: APCs contribute to the management of the editorial process, including manuscript submission and handling, peer review coordination, and editorial support.
  • Production Costs: Funds from APCs support the formatting, typesetting, and preparation of accepted manuscripts for online publication, ensuring adherence to professional standards.
  • Online Hosting and Maintenance: APCs contribute to the maintenance and operation of our online platform, ensuring continuous access to published articles for readers worldwide.
  • Indexing and Archiving: Part of the APCs is allocated to ensure the indexing and archiving of published articles in reputable databases and repositories, enhancing their discoverability and long-term accessibility.
  • Marketing and Promotion: APCs support the promotion and dissemination of published articles through various marketing channels, maximizing their visibility and impact within the scientific community.
  • Journal Administration: APC contributes to the ongoing maintenance and development of the journal platform, ensuring a high-quality user experience for authors and readers.

Payment Information

The responsibility for paying the APC typically falls on the corresponding author. However, authors are encouraged to explore Open Access funding opportunities available from their research institution or funding agency. Detailed instructions on how to pay the APC will be provided to authors upon acceptance of their manuscript for publication. We accept various payment methods to ensure a convenient experience for our authors, including credit card, debit card, bank transfer, or wire transfer.

Waiver Policy

Advances in Bioscience offers a limited number of APC waivers and discounts on a case-by-case basis to authors facing financial hardship, in line with our commitment to supporting equitable access to scientific publishing. Authors may apply for a discount or waiver of the APC fee in cases of financial hardship. Discounts or waivers of APCs may be offered in the following cases:

  • Authors from low- and middle-income countries (LMICs): We offer a reduced APC rate for authors from LMICs as defined by the World Bank, in accordance with our commitment to supporting global research and promoting diversity in academic publishing.
  • Early career researchers: Discounts may be offered to authors in the early stages of their research careers (e.g., PhD students, postdoctoral fellows).
  • Authors with limited funding: In exceptional cases, we may consider waiving the APC fee for authors who can demonstrate financial hardship.
