ABOUT PUBLISHER

Society of Open Science: Advancing Science Through Open Access

Founded on the principle of making scientific knowledge freely accessible to all, the Society of Open Science (SOS) stands as a beacon of openness, transparency, and collaboration in the realm of academic publishing. With a mission to advance science and strengthen the scientific community, SOS operates as a leading open access scientific publisher committed to breaking down barriers to knowledge dissemination and fostering innovation.

Our Mission

At SOS, our core mission is to promote the progress of science by providing unrestricted access to a diverse range of high-quality research articles across various scientific disciplines. We believe that free access to scientific literature is essential to accelerate the pace of discovery, facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration, and empower researchers worldwide to address pressing global challenges.

Core Principles

  • Open Access: SOS is dedicated to the principles of open access, ensuring that scholarly research is freely available to anyone, anywhere, without subscription fees or access restrictions. By removing paywalls and subscription fees, we facilitate greater access to knowledge and promote inclusivity in the scientific community.
  • Quality: We follow rigorous editorial standards of quality in the selection, review, and publication of the research published in our journals. The editorial team of our journals, comprised of experts in their respective fields, is dedicated to ensuring that only the highest quality research is accepted for publication. By adhering to strict quality control measures, we maintain the credibility and trustworthiness of the research published in our journals.
  • Transparency: Transparency is key to building trust in the scientific community. Therefore, we operate with full transparency in our processes, from peer review to publication. Authors retain full ownership of their work, and we adhere to strict ethical guidelines to ensure the integrity of our publications. In addition, all articles are published under open licenses, allowing for the unrestricted sharing and reuse of research.
  • Innovation: The Society of Open Science embraces technological innovation to improve the publishing experience and increase access to scientific literature. We use advanced publishing platforms, digital tools, and data analytics to streamline the publishing process, improve discoverability, and enrich the reader experience.
  • Global Accessibility: We recognize the importance of global participation in the scientific endeavor. SOS actively promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion in research dissemination, reaching audiences in both developed and developing regions to ensure that scientific knowledge transcends geographic boundaries.

Key Features

  • Rigorous Peer Review: All manuscripts submitted to journals published by the Society of Open Science undergo a rigorous peer review process to ensure scientific rigor, validity, and relevance. This process maintains impartiality by keeping the identities of both authors and reviewers confidential. A distinguished panel of experts in their respective fields provides constructive feedback to authors, helping them to improve the quality and impact of their research.
  • Creative Commons Licensing: SOS adheres to the Creative Commons license to ensure the distribution and utilization of published content. By allowing authors to retain copyright while granting users the right to freely share and adapt their work, we foster a culture of collaboration and knowledge exchange.
  • ORCID in Publications: To ensure proper attribution and facilitate research discovery, we strongly recommend that all authors (corresponding and co-authors) include their ORCID IDs during the online submission process. ORCID is a non-profit organization that provides a unique and persistent digital identifier for researchers. The Society of Open Science is a signatory to ORCID's Open Letter for Publishers, committing to requiring ORCIDs in the journal publishing process. This allows the associated journal to include all provided ORCIDs in the published article, enhancing discoverability. Registering for an ORCID is a free and simple process that can be completed here: https://orcid.org/register.

Publication Model

The journals published by the Society of Open Science operate on an open-access publication model, where authors or their institutions cover the costs associated with publication (Article Processing Charges or APCs) upon acceptance of their manuscript. This model allows us to provide free, unrestricted access to all published articles while ensuring the sustainability and viability of our publishing operations.

Join Us in Advancing Science

The Society of Open Science invites researchers, scholars, and institutions to join us in our mission to advance open access publishing. Together, we can build a more inclusive, transparent, and collaborative scientific community for the benefit of society as a whole.
